Veronica McGough

McGOUGH, Veronica E. A resident of Antelope Valley for 40 years, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013.  She was born in Lakeville, MN on February 29, 1932 and moved to Antelope Valley in 1973. She met Lloyd Hertz and spent many happy years living on the East Side of Lancaster.  She worked as a civilian employee for the U.S. Army at Edwards A.F.B. from September 1977, retiring in October 1990.  Veronica was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Post 311, holding many offices including President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Leader/Mentor for Girls State for more than 20 years. She was also a member of the 8 & 40.  Veronica was preceded in death by Lloyd Hertz and daughters Mary McGough and Lori Rogers.   She is survived by daughters Lucille Heid (John) of Phoenix, AZ, Theresa Bartels (Richard) of Lake Havasu City, AZ, son Michael McGough of Lancaster, CA, grandchildren Kellie Terrett (Wayne) of Lake Arrowhead, CA, Timothy Heid of Phoenix, AZ, Matthew West of Breckinridge, CO, Kevin Heid of Phoenix, AZ, Tyler Rogers of San Leandro, CA, and great-grandsons Troy and Joseph Terrett, both of Lake Arrowhead, CA.  Services will be held at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 12:30pm followed by an informal gathering of family and friends at the American Legion Post 311 Pavilion at 3:00pm.  The family requests donations to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Unit 311 in lieu of flowers.  You may sign the condolence book at www.chapelofthevalleymortuary.com.  Chapel of the Valley Mortuary, Palmdale Directors.
