Maria Rodriguez

RODRIGUEZ, Maria Concepcion “Connie”, 74, of Palmdale, Ca.  Died January 3, 2013 after a long illness.  Connie was born March 25, 1938 in El Paso, Tx.  She attended high school in El Paso, Tx.  Connie was a beautician for many years before working at Jet Propulsion Laboratory/NASA in Pasadena, Ca. as a technician on the Galileo and Hubble Spacecrafts, Mars Observer, USMP-1 Mission and the Upper Atmosphere Satellite which was deployed from the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1991.  In her earlier years Connie enjoyed playing tennis and basketball.  Connie loved gardening, crafting of gourds, and watching movies.  After her retirement from JPL, Connie traveled with her partner to Europe, Russia, Canada, and several destinations in the US, including Alaska, Washington DC and Pennsylvania.  Connie is survived by her partner of 26 years, Jane A. Kobel, numerous cousins in Wisconsin, Texas, and California.  Connie also leaves behind several good friends and extended “family”.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos Rodriguez and Dolores “Lola” Garcia, and her brother, Raymond Garcia.  A memorial gathering will be planned at a later date.  Chapel of the Valley Mortuary Palmdale Directors.
