Brenda Sweet

BRENDA SUZANNE SWEET (ATHAS).  Born September 17, 1965 in Glendale, CA – Died May 2, 2013 in Lancaster, CA.  Daughter of Chuck and Mary Athas.  Her early life was spent at Air Force Bases in Texas, Massachusetts, California, Louisiana, and New Mexico.  She graduated from Quartz Hill High School (Quartz Hill, CA) in 1984 and attended Modeling School in Hollywood.  Later in life she earned her Cosmetology license and worked at several hair salons in the Antelope Valley.  She married John Sweet in 1999 and resided in Canyon Country for a short time before returning to the Antelope Valley.
Brenda was a loving and trusting person always brightening the lives of family, friends and acquaintances alike.  She enjoyed family and was happiest attending family gatherings for holidays, birthdays, and “get togethers”.  She accepted Christ into her life and was an inspiration to all she met.
She was preceded in death by Grand Parents Maxella Mahoney (Nana) and Pete Mahoney (Baba), and Uncle Mike Mahoney.
She is survived by two wonderful children, a daughter Talia Athas and a son James Sweet, ex-husband John Sweet, parents Chuck and Mary Athas, sister Elizabeth O’Raidy, brother in law John O'Raidy, nephew Declan O'Raidy, aunt / uncle Kathy and Dan Mahoney, aunt Pat Mahoney, cousins Laura Mahoney,  Dr. Mike Mahoney, Jennifer Baranda, Marne Mahoney, Meghan Mejia, Danny Mahoney, special friend Brian Yount, many relatives in Montrose, CO and the hundreds of people she touched throughout her short life.
Services will be in at Horizon Community Church, 1850 E. Ave “R, Palmdale, CA  (20th St. East and Ave. R) on May 11, 2013 with a viewing at 9:00 A.M., Service at 10:00 A.M.  Brenda will then join her Nana, Baba and Uncle Mike at Grandview Cemetery in Montrose, CO with a grave side service on May 18, 2013.  Condolences may be sent to www.chapelofthevalleymortuary.com.
