Amalia Burruel

Amalia (Molly) Rada Burruel passed away after suffering a massive stroke 5 days after her 96th Birthday in Palmdale, California. She was born May 14, 1923 in Tucson, Arizona to Pedro and Ybarra Rada. Amalia grew up in the depression era, she graduated from Tucson High, was a “Rosie the Riveter” in Tucson, AZ during WWII and was a homemaker as her profession. She moved to National City, California before moving to Palmdale, CA where she lived most of her life. Her tamales were the best! Family gathered almost annually for the famous Tamalada where dozens of tamales were made under her supervision. Camp Stone was one of her favorite summer events. Where the last nine years she participated in crafts, day trips to Yosemite, Pt. Reyes, a 7-day trip to National Parks. Including the Grand Canyon which she had always wanted to see. Camp fire events and smores. Up until her stroke she remained active, looking forward to more trips and visiting family.  In August 2018 Amalia was recognized by the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park’s annual Rosie the Riveter event for her service to her country during one of the important role’s civilians did to support the war effort.   She is survived by children Cecilia Stone, Adelina Burruel, Robert Burruel and Delia “Dee Dee” Richards. Her grandchildren Joseph Burruel, Tonya Burruel, Jason Pringle, Theresa Stone, Monica Stone, Danielle Richards, Andria Richards and her 7 great grandchildren, also sons-in-law Tim Stone, Brad Richards, daughters-in-law Peggy Leslie, Louise Brown, along with nieces and nephews all whom she adored. She was a true matriarch for her family and friends. All those who knew her would comment on her strength and love for life. Amalia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Martinez Burruel, son Edward Burruel Jr., 5 brothers Raymond, Robert, Tony, Pete, Gilbert and sister Alice Huerta.  Services are pending
